Single Review: Words From The Wise

This week’s review comes from Canadian alt-rock band, Eleven North.  I loved their enthusiasm they managed to convey via email, so I thought I’d give them a listen, and man am I glad I did!  Sound wise, it’s right up my alley, but I’ll admit the vocals took a little getting used to, but it wasn’t too long before I was grooving along.

I’m always a fan of “big studio drums” and this song has it all over.  The lyrics aren’t anything special to me, however everything else around it makes the song really shine regardless.  The vocalist reminds me so much of Counting Crows lead singer, Adam Duritz, but I hear a slight Tool-like remix to it.  The guitar effects and panning tricks throughout this song are both clever and stand-out in today’s indie music scene.

I really enjoyed the groove of this song, the back beat is constant, and the “Sparta”-esque undertones immediately made me a fan even more.  I do wish the song had a more powerful bridge, but nonetheless I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more from Eleven North, and don’t forget to check out their links and show your support below!
